The Redbirds Edge

An elite AAA baseball club

The Redbirds organization is based on our ideals that pertain to ensuring the success of our players on the baseball field but more importantly for success in life off the field. The foundation for this success is built on the Redbirds mantra "P.R.I.D.E." that was first coined by our founder the late Jim Lawson.

Perseverance - be persistant in doing something despite the difficulty or delay in achieving success

Respect - appreciate the integrity of the game, players, coaches, umpires, and supporters

Intelligence - demonstrate the ability to learn and apply new knowledge and skills

Determination - demonstrate a firmness of purpose to bettering themselves and their teammates

Effort - exert oneself physically and mentally to reach one's fullest potential

Based on these values, many Redbirds players go to play at higher levels of baseball, become leaders in the community and find success in life as they translate on filed experiences to everyday life. The Redbirds organization takes PRIDE in our family-based business approach that offers the highest quality baseball program using a cost-recovery business model.

The Redbirds are currently offering programs for the following age groups:

  • 21U: 2000-2002

  • 18U: 2002-2005

  • 15U: 2006-2007

  • 13U: 2008-2009

  • 11U: 2010-2011

The Redbirds club offers non-Little League programs that begin Baseball Alberta league play at the beginning of May and finish the season in late July followed by the provincial tournament.

A noted difference from Little League is each team, including 11U, remains together from the beginning to the end of the season. There is not a house league/all-star format as many may see in Little League programs.

Each Redbirds team plays in their respective Baseball Alberta league while participating in a minimum of two tournaments throughout the summer. Each team’s season concludes with a Provincial Championship at the end of July for the 11U age and at the beginning of August for the 13U, 15U, 18U and 21U levels. Winners of Baseball Alberta’s Provincial Championship will move on to a regional championship at 13U and a Regional or National Championship at 15U, 18U and 21U.

All teams anticipate indoor spring training to begin in March and openly accommodate those players finishing their hockey season.

We aspire to teach all of our players to respect all aspects of the game

We practice 2-3 per week outside once the weather allows and the City of Calgary opens their fields.

Our goal is to develop each Redbird’s individual skills, baseball knowledge and how to function within a team setting.

As a program, we aspire to teach all of our players to respect all aspects of the game while learning to compete at the highest levels. We believe that baseball has many transferrable skills to everyday life and our focus on character development helps lay the foundation for players to succeed in their chosen careers.
